Too much megalomania

A memorable afternoon with far too many facets. This is completely normal in games like this. Something is happening in too many places and it is impossible to see everything. Hence the request not to take my point of view as the only one. Read the other blogs too. At the end of the post I collect the links.

In any case, FC St. Pauli's defeat against Hamburg's other club was deserved. Even if it felt like HSV only shot on goal 4 times, today they forced luck much better than the boys in brown and white. They seemed inhibited in the first half and tried hard in the second. But trying is not enough in a derby. You have to burn there.

There was a lot more of that to be felt in the stands. There was a lot of derby atmosphere, especially before the game. Unfortunately, it was distributed unevenly afterwards. While the support on the back straight quickly diminished, hotheads took over on the south until the game was about to be abandoned.

Pyrotechnics is not a crime?

Of course, one can discuss at this point how unnecessary a ban on pyrotechnics by the DFL and DFB is. There was a lot of igniting at the city derby, but very little actually happened (at least from my point of view, and I was sitting right in front of it at times). This is not intended to sugarcoat the actions, but rather to put them in a different perspective. Just imagine if there were legal pyrotechnics – then even less would have happened.

However, as long as pyrotechnics are prohibited, no one has to believe that they can ignore all laws after prior warning from the referee and communication between the team captain and capo. The frustration over this solo effort by a few was deeply felt across large parts of the South. I am very sure that this will be hotly debated internally.

The fans of FC St. Pauli once stood for innovative and funny support. All that's left of that today is a bit of megalomania, which the opposing fans were accused of before the game.

I haven't been a Derby winner for most of my life. It's a shame that I wasn't able to experience a derby win at the Millerntor again. But I'll survive it easily. FC St. Pauli is much more than football. Even more than delusions of grandeur...

And now some photo nerd stuff

I got it quickly on Saturday sony alpha 6400* bought - the new crop camera, which has packed the technology of the A9 or A7III into a small body. This turns my 100-400mm lens into a 150-600mm lens. And the autofocus is absolutely amazing... Incredible device for just over €1000 - a real statement to the other providers in the segment. Maybe I'll write something more about the camera in a later post...

    1. The one with the banana? Yes, I did too - but I didn't understand it. So thank you for your comment, now I know more...

  1. Well, what can I say... "The St. Pauli fans used to stand for innovative, funny support..." speaks to my heart - it really used to be much better.
This egot***** from a larger ultra group messes up a lot of things - and honestly I don't know whether there should be any favors for it - results: heavy punishment, divided mood (and therefore no unrestricted support for the team...) and almost a game was abandoned...
The ultras should think carefully about what kind of help this is.
Forza St. Pauli – without megalomania and for the team…

  2. We once had a discussion under the motto "bring back St. Pauli" - it's time to start this in a new context...that was a blow to everyone who started it around 30 years ago, to everyone who built up the image you mentioned. There is little of that...

  3. I had already seen it earlier. The one with the red Bengalo at the end looks like @OlafScholz, will he be banned from the stadium now?

  4. I've been standing in the back straight for years, the atmosphere at a derby yesterday was really frightening, I was shocked. There were also so many strangers there, somehow that was nothing yesterday.
