Duel in the game between FC St. Pauli and VfL Bochum Duel in the game between FC St. Pauli and VfL Bochum

Insignificant farewell to the season

The last home game of the season at Millerntor is always a nice opportunity to start the summer break. This time it was somehow different. No banners when the players say goodbye, no players' banner at the end of the game, no final choreo. An inconsequential farewell to the season. There is obviously dissatisfaction on both sides with the end of this season. For a long time, the beginning was something to be viewed with great joy through brown and white glasses.

Now the 2018/19 season is leaving me at a loss too. I have no idea why there was a break at some point in the second half of the season and why the derby will go down as one of the most soulless in history. And some fans incorrectly overcompensated for this emptiness went completely overboard.

Hopefully the summer break lasts long enough to allow the wounds to heal and for everyone involved to have a lot of fun again with the game of rounding on the square green, which can offer so many emotional lows and highs.

The game against VfL Bochum

Oh yes, today's game between FC St. Pauli and VfL Bochum to mark the end of the season was played on the brown and white side by almost everyone who can still just walk on two legs and hit the ball. This is not intended to disparage the people who stood there on the lawn today. On the contrary: despite this rather thrown together team, the first half went really well. The second was a little worse, but the team could still have won. That would certainly have been good for the healing process mentioned above. So the anticipation for the derby next year had to serve for this.

Here are my pictures from today's 0-0 draw

If you don't yet know the background to Transpi with the reference to Mopo, here is the explanation. Do you remember the Mopo article after the derby, when a father declared his son traumatized because of all the pyrotechnics? It's not bad: the father who was pictured with his son in St. Pauli clothes back then appeared again with a photo in Mopo. This time, however, as a supporter of the suburban club with self-painted signs against the local coach. I just feel sorry for the boy. Unfortunately you can't choose your parents...

The GAS found this out, which is why these letters on the transpi were in a different color and were capitalized for me. Read more on Facebook.

With this in mind: a nice ride on the special train with a better farewell to the season to all Sankt Pauli supporters, a nice fan club tournament, a nice run against the right, a nice visit to the first women's game, great weather and a fantastic time away from football. See you soon and thanks for stopping by, commenting, praising!

  1. Well written. I found the last home game, I had to watch it at home, pretty 😐 emotionless. Little came across on the TV.
The people of Bochum could sometimes be heard better than their own fans. A strange season is coming to an end. Which memories remain? Honestly? For me it's actually just the derby against HSV. And of course the change of coach. He didn't have to be. My opinion .

  2. Thank you, dear Stefan, for the fantastic photos! I think you've outdone yourself this time, great selection! And thanks for the explanation of the GAS Transpis, I hadn't seen that yet 😀 Hey, hey...

    great photos!
