FC St. Pauli - Eintracht Braunschweig, 22nd matchday, 1-0 FC St. Pauli - Eintracht Braunschweig, 22nd matchday, 1-0

To 10. a threesome at 98dB in the 90th.

It was the tough game we expected. Braunschweig is further down in the current table, but has started the second half of the season just as successfully as FC St. Pauli. Eintracht is very compact at the back and has a good transition game. Every team has a hard time against teams like that.

Jackson Irvine led FC St. Pauli onto the field as captain for the first time in the second half of the season. The weather was not very Mallorcan. The protest on the south, however, was imaginative and worked without interrupting the game. Anyone who loses track of all the investors who supposedly want to give money to the DFL – CVC Capital Partners is one of them. Thanks to the nice USP worker who helped me gain more insight.

Speaking of thanks and perspective: the yellow-red card against Elias Saad meant he missed the next game and had four yellow cards to his name in the following one. Thanks to Millernton, who answered my question BlueSky in minutes helpfully answered.

If I have one complaint about the game, it would be the inability to provide relief in the last 20 minutes. If I have anything to praise about the team, it would be the stability in achieving narrow success over time, even with ten players. I haven't experienced this in this quality for a long time.

Oladapo Afolayan is the man of the match for me today. He caused quite a stir in the opposing defense and was spot on in the 32nd minute. Thanks to his goal to make it 1-0, FC St. Pauli wins and is now heading to Kiel next week as league leaders. This will certainly be an exciting match.

Oh yes: Nikola Vasilj was also a game changer today. Thanks to his great reflexes and excellent positional play, the score was zero in the end. Everything there was to hold, he held.

And another funny thing: almost exactly eight years ago there was a 1-0 win for the Brown-Whites against Braunschweig. I found it interesting the pictures from back then now to be seen again.
