Between the years

Between the years there seems to be far too short a period of time for the far too many things that people want to experience between eating and giving presents at the end of the year. This year, Hamburg also had weather. Days of fog followed by lighter grey before everything turned white enveloped the most beautiful city between Norderstedt and Neuenfelde.

At least three times I was able to spend a few short hours around the popular fan mile in the heart of the city. The lighting was wonderfully dystopian, especially around Hamburg's most beautiful stadium. The lawn lights outsmarted physics in the thick fog and enveloped the surrounding area in sandstorm yellow.

The idea that the Elbphilharmonie would make a nice subject turned out to be deceptive. The fog was too thick to be able to see the building visually. It was good that there were other opportunities for photos on the way there and back again.

Desperate and cold, I looked at the jetties one more time when a single woman was walking in the right direction and also looking in the right direction. Sometimes I get lucky too.

Thank you, unknown woman, for making my snapshot perfect!

A few days later I accepted the invitation of my friend Bjørn, who called for a photo walk with other nice people. It was entertaining, despite the dreary weather.

Typically, I don’t get any really good pictures from such photo walks – other conjure up there always anythingBut it was enough for two Hamburg tourist shots.

And then there was the snow, which I was only able to photograph when it was almost gone.

And the Christmas break was over again. Next weekend is football again. And I had just had my Review of the year written…
