Contested draw

FC St. Pauli's women's first team is still waiting for its first win of the 2025/26 Regionalliga Nord season. Even in their home game against ATS Buntentor from Bremen, who have four times as many points, they could only manage a hard-fought draw. The girls in brown and white also had some bad luck with a few decisions from the refereeing team.

Many viewers hoped after yesterday's match to see something more positive. They definitely succeeded in that.

In the first half, the FC St. Pauli women's first team managed to create some dangerous attacks with some nice vertical passes, but Buntentor was physically stronger. Their halftime lead was therefore fully deserved. Goalkeeper Tara didn't look entirely convincing in the brown-and-white goal, but that was the only time she didn't perform optimally. Otherwise, she made all the saves she needed to.

FC St. Pauli's first women's team came out of the break stronger and took up the fight. They forced the Bremen goalkeeper into one of her rare errors, which Josefin Lutz ruthlessly exploited in the 50th minute to equalize. If the assistant referee had been more aware of the offside calls, more goals could have been scored. Unfortunately, he raised his flag for two further goals by the Brown-Whites. At the same time, he failed to see a blow to the face right in front of him.

So the longest second half I've ever witnessed ended in a draw. Referee Nele Osterkamp blew the final whistle after 57 minutes. This was partly due to a serious injury to the Buntentor goalkeeper. She had collided with her own teammate shortly before the end of the match and was clutching her knee in pain afterwards. I wish her a speedy recovery.

FC St. Pauli Women's First Team remains in a relegation spot with 4 points. ATS Buntentor remains in 6th place with 13 points.

The next home game at the Feldarena is against the U20 team from the club by the waste incineration plant on November 16.11th. Our opponents are currently second in the league. Given the nature of the game and the opponents, I would expect a hard-fought draw.
