FC St. Pauli wins twice

The Blind Football Bundesliga visits Hamburg, and FC St. Pauli wins twice. Matchdays are usually double matchdays. Therefore, the blind footballers from FC St. Pauli play against Schalke 04 on Saturday and Hertha BSC on Sunday. The final scores for the brown and white team are 3-2 and 5-2, respectively. The win on Sunday, in particular, was a fantastic team performance.

The team was also very pleased with the large number of spectators. Many came to Borgweg, especially on Saturday. In my opinion, the match day was once again excellently organized. This was, of course, thanks to the numerous volunteers.

In my opinion, the most sporting incident of the weekend occurred on Saturday. During a free kick, there was a misunderstanding between the Gelsenkirchen goalkeeper and the referees. They thought the wall had already been set up. But it was actually just a language issue. FCSP's long-time player Serdi resolved the issue in a wonderfully sporting manner. Instead of taking advantage of the situation by taking the shot, he acted as an interpreter. Schalke's goalkeeper and Serdi exchanged a brief exchange in Turkish, and the game continued.

If there's anything to complain about, it's that the penalty rate could be improved. Two 8-meter shots were missed on Saturday, and then another 6-meter shot on Sunday. But that's complaining at a high level: try shooting at a handball goal blindfolded. I wouldn't even be able to put a ball into the net if I could see. That's why I'm sitting next to the goal and watching the action through my lens.

I wish those injured on matchday a speedy recovery.

At the end of the matchday, FC St. Pauli is undefeated with a goal difference of 12:4 and nine points, sitting in the top half of the table. The next matchday, on June 9, will see them face league leaders Marburg in Gelsenkirchen. This will be their next challenge in defending their title.
