To take off shoes

There was too little of everything: too little precision, too little luck with the shots, too little defense, too little resistance, too little threat to the goal. Werder runs less, but is still always first to the ball. FC St. Pauli shoots at goal almost twice as often, but Bremen has an expected goals coefficient three times as high. The currently second best away team brutally shows the boys in brown and white what it means to play in the first Bundesliga.

OK, it was clear before the game that it would be tough. The Millerntor team currently has to compensate for six absences. A lot has to come together to score a second home win of the season in the Bundesliga. FC St. Pauli's last win against SV Werder Bremen in the first division dates back to 1977. Brown and white tried hard, but green and white were clearly more efficient.

The only thing that was nice about the evening was the many choreos we did together. It's great that the two fan groups are celebrating together. The soulless types from the DFL will probably demand a lot of money from the club for the expressions of friendship. But the two fan groups are showing exactly the friendly bond that football is supposed to represent. For me, that's a million times more love of football than awarding a World Cup to Saudi Arabia.

The next home game will take place next year, when some old friends will come to Millerntor again. Please check back here then. If we don't read each other again, I wish you a peaceful holiday season with your loved ones.
