Traditionally, the Blind Football Masters in Hamburg is the last tournament in Germany before the long winter break and anticipation for the next season in the new year grows.
At the 17th edition of the Masters, the host German champions FC St. Pauli had come up with the idea of holding two tournaments. In addition to four mixed teams, there was also a tournament with all-women teams for the first time. The mixed tournament featured teams from AC Crema and Avoy MU Brno as well as Sportfreunde Blau Gelb Marburg, against whom the footballers had just won the German championship title.
In addition to Austria's national team, CDC Málaga and an all-women blind football team from FC St. Pauli also competed in the women's blind football tournament.
As usual, the Masters was also excellently organized - thanks to the many helpers! In terms of results, the brown and white blind football teams were poor hosts: the mixed team won all of their games, as did the women's team.
In any case, I had a lot of fun photographing the action in the icy wind, beautiful sunshine and several downpours. Here are a few best-ofs from the games of the 17th Masters tournament.
Well, that means that it was the 10th anniversary of my first – at that time still the Indoor Masters – event. Some of the players from 2014 were there again this time. Just look at the old report.
Thank you for the great pictures of a fantastic tournament. I particularly like that you chose the goal celebration of the women from Malaga - that was an absolute highlight of Saturday for me!
That wasn't just a highlight for you. Feeling this genuine joy was hopefully a highlight for everyone at Borgweg.
Thank you for your kind words about my pictures.
We were thrilled again 🤩 . It was so lovely when little children took the players' hands as they ran onto the pitch. They were so positively surprised and could hardly believe it. Soooo lovely!
