Finally, summer football

The season of the second Bundesliga 2022/23 is over. Like last season, FC St. Pauli finished the league in 5th place. In contrast to last season, the brown and white team achieved one point more and the goal difference is also one goal better. What leaves you with a better feeling at the end of the season is that this time it was the second half of the season that went brilliantly. The last few seasons have actually always gone like this: one half series tops, one half series flops. That shouldn't detract from the excellent last half series.

At the end of the season, the game against Karlsruhe was no longer about anything, despite the exceptional return series due to the unsatisfactory first series. Therefore there was summer football and a draw to watch. It was reconciling that many of the players who were said goodbye after the game were back on the pitch. The departing Leart Paqarada even scored the equalizer.

Despite the summer football, here are some pictures from the last home game.

It was nice to see “Jackson” Avevor laughing on the green again. His Injury in the game against Fürth in the 2019/20 season was still too serious. What was nice for me was that President Oke Göttlich wore a hat when saying goodbye one of my pictures has the content. Thanks to Thorsten Baering for pointing out the connection between Leon Jensen and Martino Gatti. The stadium atmosphere was crazy shortly before the players said goodbye when the 99th Heidenheim minute spread by word of mouth.

Now we can still wait for the announcement of the “Pitch of the Year” by the DFL, but obviously FC St. Pauli has the chance to win the title for the best pitch of the year in the second division.

The next season starts in almost exactly two months – hopefully without summer football.
