Drama in the final seconds

Before the last game of the 4th matchday between FC St. Pauli and Hertha BSC, the top game between Marburg and Stuttgart was scheduled. In another high-class game, both teams ended in a draw in the fight for the championship title for the 2023 season.

Due to the 0-0 draw between Marburg and Stuttgart, FC St. Pauli now had the chance to take over the top of the table with a win against Hertha BSC before the last matchday in mid-September. However, this is easier written than done. The brown and white team had to fight with injuries before the match day, but fell after yesterday's unfortunate fall from team captain Versen this one for today. (Keep getting well soon!)

During the half-time break, Paul also had to have his thigh treated. Not the best prospects given the temperatures. Reserve team captain Mike didn't play for several years before the season - but he still did a great job, but at some point he had to pay tribute to the hot weather on Borgweg. 14-year-old Natan Werner was the only substitute.

Drama at St. Pauli against Hertha BSC

So the game had a bit of a handbrake on for understandable reasons. Both teams had chances to score. FC St. Pauli was more dangerous, but the last bit of luck was missing. Serdal Celebi had the best chance with a well-taken 6m penalty, which the Hertha keeper was able to get out of the corner with a long leg.

Well, then Hertha BSC made it 15-1 from a confusing situation directly in front of St. Pauli keeper Matze Gutzmann 0 seconds before the end. Other teams then hang their heads. The brown-whites gathered their last strength and actually forced a small miracle. Paul Ruge won wonderfully from the kick-off point and scored the much-celebrated equaliser. 1:1 and 7 seconds left to play. But the drama doesn't end there. 3 seconds before the end, Matze Gutzmann had to stretch again to direct a Hertha shot around the post. But then it's closing time on Borgweg.

What are the next steps?

The last matchday is once again the decisive one in this Blind Football Bundesliga season. This one finds again in Cologne took place, this time on September 16th. Marburg has the best chance of winning the title, as they are currently leaders with the same number of points as St. Pauli but with a better goal difference. Marburg plays against Dortmund on the last matchday. FC St. Pauli has to face Stuttgart again in the last game of the season. Both will certainly be close games.

However, after the injuries sustained by St. Pauli's two national players, the current ranking is worthy of honor. Proof of the great youth work of the brown and white team.
