City derby fireworks

Even 24 hours after the final whistle, the grin hasn't diminished: derby winners again. And only very optimistic people could have expected this clarity before the game.

The signs before this city derby in Hamburg were rarely so clear. The rivals from the outskirts, unbeaten for six games, met the brown and white boys, winless for seven games. League leaders against current relegation candidates - everything is pretty clear. But as Timo Schultz said so beautifully before the game: "You can forget everything today, today is the city derby."

And that's how the FC St. Pauli team performed. With a good tactical attitude and the desire to create scoring opportunities, the other club was able to show their limits. The expected goals also show how deserved the derby victory was with a clear lead for brown and white.

Since the atmosphere in the stands was worthy of a derby victory, everything sounds like an all-round successful evening. That is not completly correct. I wish Luca Zander a speedy recovery. After a dogfight that didn't look bad from the outside shortly before the end of the game, he had to struggle with significant problems on the field. To me it honestly didn't look like he should continue playing. But athletes know their bodies very differently than ordinary mortals.

And then there was the completely exaggerated use of boxing by some “police officers”. Millernton reported on this from an eyewitness perspective. Nobody should be surprised anymore if the police are seen in a bad light. I wish everyone affected all the best!
