After about two years I was once again able to follow a FC St. Pauli women's game with my camera. The current relegation battle in the Regionalliga Nord was against the TuS Büppel team, who won the first leg 1-4. The revenge was successful on the home field arena. The team in brown and white won 0-5.
The season so far of FC St. Pauli 1. Women
After the Visit to the Millerntors yesterday, today we went about 50m further in a north-eastern direction to the field arena. The 1st Women from FC St. Pauli had an important game there in the Women's Football Regional League North. After a bad first half of the season, every point now counts in the second half of the season. The relegation places are very close. Before the game, St. Pauli, in eleventh place, only had one point more than Meppen II, who occupy the top of the two relegation places in the 14-team league - although FC St. Pauli 1. Frauen have two games more. The women from Wellingsbüttel are already quite far behind in the last relegation place.
Büppel is only seemingly safe as sixth in the table. Because with an 8 point lead over the first relegation zone and 7 match days left, a lot is still possible here. So everything was set for an interesting, sporty afternoon in Hamburg.
The game FC St. Pauli 1. Frauen against TuS Büppel
The women in brown and white immediately started powerfully. They wanted to make it clear right away who should leave the field as winners today. At the first corner, Annie Mcintosh Kingman was able to cleverly pass the ball into the 5m area. Joline Floeter took advantage of the confusion to make it 1-0 early in the 4th minute. Just twelve minutes later we could be cheering again. Emma Lisa Frings made it 2-0 and brought some calm to the game. Strong winds and hail made the game a bit haphazard afterwards. Büppel got into the game better by half-time, but was hardly able to score a goal due to the weather.
Unfortunately, Joline Floeter was seriously injured after an unfortunate collision with her own 5 Series and had to be replaced. Get well soon at this point. The only thing worth mentioning from the first half is that FC St. Pauli coach Jan-Philipp Kalla picked up a yellow card.
The second half
Büppel came out of the locker room better, but Verena Mannes took the first chance to score for the brown and white women with an artificial shot into the corner. The celebration in the 54th minute was wonderful and the goal decided the game. No matter how hard the women from Büppel tried, the defensive wall of brown and white stood.
In the 80th and 84th, Annie Mcintosh Kingman and Lina cheered to make the final score 5-0. Overall, a deserved win. FC St. Pauli 1. Women had the better spatial distribution today and were more variable in their forward play. In the back, people helped each other out and kept the rooms tight.
Three important points that can be worth a lot in the relegation battle, but currently have little room for movement towards the relegation zone. Nevertheless, today's performance gives hope that the FC St. Pauli 1. Women have nothing to do with relegation at the end of the season. Next week we go to Waldörfer SV and on May 1st there is a home game against the bottom team from Wellingsbüttel.
