In the game between FC St. Pauli and 1.FC Nürnberg, the visiting team decided to play shortly before the end and silenced the Millerntor with a goal in the second minute of stoppage time. A draw that doesn't help either team in the fight for promotion.
Before that, Nuremberg spent roughly 85 minutes trying to stay close at the back. That worked really well. Every team has a hard time - especially the St. Paulians, who are weakened by replacements. It really took until the 55th minute when a shot hit the Nuremberg goal that the post had to save. The opening goal would have been deserved long ago.
The 1-0 lead came in the form of a penalty almost 20 minutes later. St. Pauli then followed on. The team in brown fought and worked hard. Another goal was not scored. Or rather, it was scored on the other side. Actually, out of nowhere. The spectators in the Millerntor tried to sing their team to success beforehand. After that there was nothing for a moment and then an attempt to offer consolation with "You'll never walk alone". That was a wonderful gesture and for the first time in a long time I had the feeling that the team and the spectators were a reconciled unit.
Before the game there were a lot of banners that... Trial begins against the Iuventa crew in Italy addressed in a few days. I can only keep my fingers crossed for the defendants.
After the game, I saw many sad faces on the players' faces. Timo Schultz was quoted as saying, "We lost 1:1 today." That's very fitting.
