As we all know, Berlin is always worth a trip. Especially when FC St. Pauli blind football plays there in the Bundesliga. Unfortunately, these words of wisdom didn't quite add up this weekend, but one after the other.
It is the 4th matchday of the 2022 season in the blind football Bundesliga and the teams are in Berlin. In blind football it is organized in such a way that all teams meet on one match day and play their games. FC St. Pauli met in the top game of the series champions against Blista Marburg on Saturday and Sunday against the syndicate from Düsseldorf and Cologne. Unfortunately, both games were not as successful as desired.
The game on Saturday could have brought a preliminary decision for the German championship title in 2022, as only FC St. Pauli had not lost a point in the current season until this game. In the game between the reigning and two-time German champions against the 5-time German champions, things happened as they had to. A tactically very good team from Marburg took advantage of a weak first half from the brown and white team from Hamburg. A cleverly used tip of the foot resulted in the first goal conceded of the current season against the Kiezkicker. St. Pauli's start in the second half was well defended and the 1-0 success for Marburg makes the championship race exciting again.
The first game of the second day brought the duel between the former bottom of the table and the current ones. From 2008 to 2013, FC St. Pauli always had one of the last two places in the Bundesliga table. Blind football also has a lot to do with experience. The current table position of the syndicate from Fortuna Düsseldorf with PSV Cologne means nothing for the future. Currently, the self-sacrificing team had little to counter FC St. Pauli's attack - apart from two very good goalkeepers who prevented a higher result with great saves. This resulted in an 8-0 win for St. Pauli, with Jonathan Tönsing scoring 7 times alone. Finally, the team did everything they could to allow the strong Philipp Versen and Thoya Küster, who was so successful at the European Championships, to score a goal. That unfortunately did not work.
Since the record champions MTV Stuttgart confidently won both of their games of the weekend, there will now be a showdown on the last match day. As was the case last season, both of the current top teams in the Blind Football Bundesliga will meet on the last matchday. FC St. Pauli is currently ahead in the table thanks to their better goal difference. So it remains exciting.
The last match day will take place on September 17th at Roncalliplatz in Cologne. It's definitely worth coming. Who ends this season with the glass pizza plate in hand?
Great report about our great sport. It was a damn hot but also very nice weekend in the capital. Great, fair audience that had a lot of fun. Unfortunately I took care of the only penalty, but I also saved it. I found the congratulations and positive feedback on my achievements from opponents and spectators very positive.

Yes, despite the sporting rivalry, working together is often very pleasant. And the referees received a lot of images from me to check the six-yard decisions. Those were interesting discussions on the sidelines. Ultimately, everything happens so quickly in this sport that mistakes can always happen on all sides. Wish you and your team much success. We'll probably see each other in Cologne 🙂
