Guest on the Unterbelichtet Podcast

While most of my readers from the St. Pauli area spent their time yesterday watching an away game, I was a guest on a podcast for the first time. And the title of the podcast fits both: underexposed. You have to decide for yourself whether my talk was as soulless as the Braun-Weissen performance in Hanover. For me it was an interesting experience, sitting alone in my room, spontaneously answering questions that had not been agreed upon Chris and Pablo to react. Of course, afterwards I always remember what I forgot to mention. But who knows how long the episode of the Underexposed Podcast would have lasted.

Nevertheless, I would like to point out that in Uganda white people are given a loving nickname: Muzungu. This term comes from the Bantu language, which is common in the region, and roughly translates as "lost person". The context becomes clear when you hear it. 😉

This episode of the Unterbelichtet podcast covers many other topics in depth Sports photography and that's why I picked out a picture that really shows the appeal of this type of photography for me.

Selim Agaev is happy after his win against Alexander Vogt

To take a good sports photo, you need timing and a bit of luck. Even with the small MMA cage, I was only able to capture the image so well on the sensor because I was sitting in that spot. And even though the fight was over, you have to expect something surprising to happen - even if no surprises happen the whole evening after the fights. Here, Selim Agaev ran up the cage with two quick steps and landed back on his feet with a somersault. A question of timing. Or as Oscar Wilde once said: "Expect the unexpected." There are only a few forms of photography that offer this thrill.

Another important addendum relates to Viva con Agua and the question of how to manage to be taken along. In addition to my many years of volunteer work, I would also like to mention at this point that I paid for two of the three trips to project areas myself. At the last one Trip to Ethiopia VcA kindly covered the flight and accommodation.

  1. Hi Stefan,
I listened to Chris and Pablo's new podcast with you in its entirety and it was enriching. Thanks for that. I didn't realize until now that your affinity for technology is so intense. I'm already looking forward to new projects that you post here from time to time.

  2. Thank you for joining in on our little “3 people remote” experiment! At least Chris and I learned a lot. But I’m sure there’s a lot of new stuff for most listeners too!
