Rolling Rat Pack packed away

Twelve minutes before the end, Regensburg turns the game around and takes the lead. The B team of the Hamburg Harbor Girls has to rally in order not to give up their previously confident lead against the Rolling Rat Pack shortly before the end. This – ultimately short – lead by Regensburg is all the more astonishing since they lost two players with injuries in the middle of the first half of the game.

Short insert: when the injuries occurred, the referees, aka refs, stood in front of the players to protect them and an announcement was made that please do not take photographs. Even though I don't have any problems with football, photographing bloody noses, I consider the non-photographing of injuries to be completely self-evident here. On the one hand, roller derby is an amateur sport, a hobby. Injuries can have completely different personal consequences than in professional sports. On the other hand, the false impression that the sport is too hard could quickly arise. I'm taking photos now Roller derby for 6 years and I've only seen one serious injury in all that time. Two today, that's unusual. I wish the injured players all the best and a speedy recovery!

Oh yes: I didn't see anyone who really wanted to put the injury on their chip.

Back to the bout: the Harbor Girls fought back and took the lead back. Ultimately it was deserved, but it showed once again that a lot is possible in roller derby. That's probably why I like the sport so much. A competitive sport in which a team effort can lead to success - that's very St. Pauli like.

The final score of 154:130 against the Rolling Rat Pack sounds confident, but it wasn't like that. However, the B team’s success was definitely deserved.

Another word for those interested in photography about the equipment used: Nikon z7 with the following lenses: 24mm tilt-shift, Z50mm f/1.8 and FX105mm f/1.4. As you can see: sports photography with Nikon's new mirrorless camera also works with indoor lighting. But the autofocus of the 105 is quite slow. Most of the images became blurry. In terms of optics, there is also a lot of glass to move...
