The specifications were as clear as day. In order for the 1st women from FC St. Pauli to stay in the league, they had to win against Meppen's second team. An ambitious goal after this season, which can definitely be described as messed up. Schwachhausen were tied on points in the long-distance duel and were in the relegation zone, but they should have played against the bottom team from Limmer. A win was easily expected. Meppen is of course a different opponent...
It is very sad for the third highest league in German women's football that the team from Limmer did not play in Schwachhausen due to a lack of personnel. Due to this very unsportsmanlike behavior of the team from Limmer, the extent of the victory necessary to stay in the league was clear. And only the goal difference was used to decide whether to stay in the Regionalliga Nord.
The first women from FC St. Pauli started off with a lot of steam. In the first half, Meppen rarely even crossed the halfway line. The brown and white team went to work with concentration, but the important goal didn't come at first. That only changed after about half an hour. Vanessa Zawada was completely free on the edge of the penalty area and hammered the tension shot into the net. Fifteen minutes later, Annie Kingman's double strike had set the early signs of success.
The next double strike came from Nina Philipp – one goal before and one after the break increased the score to 5-0. And Nina put in an exemplary performance to make it 6-0 thanks to Anso Greifenberg, who was always rushing up and down the sidelines. Vanessa Zawada, who had also opened the scoring, brought the final point.
After that, the concentration waned a bit, there were a lot of changes - Amke made her last appearance - and Meppen managed two more goals.
7:2 is of course a wonderful result to end the season. It goes without saying that everyone involved was in a good mood. And would Schwachhausen have managed (if I didn't miscalculate) 8-0 against Limmer? We won't find out, but I hope we do the friendly footballers from Schwachhausen see you again soon in the regional league.
FC St. Pauli is now facing the biggest break in a long time with its first women. The complete coaching and support team stops the same way, how many players. The next regional league season will certainly be even more difficult to survive than this one. My fingers are crossed...
