Finally a cup game for me again at Millerntor. Last time I was there in Nepal. The pleasure of a cup fight in the home stadium doesn't happen that often because FC St. Pauli has to reach at least the second round. Of course, I was doubly happy because of that, because there are always cup games special atmosphere. The start was very promising with very imaginative choreos on the usual three corners.
On the pitch it quickly became clear that Eintracht were not only always a head taller, but also brought more cleverness to the pitch. Very often, the brown and white player was irritated or thrown off balance shortly before receiving the ball. Even fouls left the referee with the impression that they were committed by the opponent. Before FC St. Pauli was in the game, it was already 2-0 for Eintracht Frankfurt after two touches of the ball by Bas Dost.
Marvin Knoll would have deserved his shot to go into the goal instead of hitting the post. Waldemar Sobota was able to convert a penalty into a goal. Incidentally, Sobota and Buballa were the only players who were in the brown and white starting eleven for the game against Hertha a few years ago. In the second half, Frankfurt rested for their difficult game next weekend, while FC St. Pauli ran their hearts out. It didn't help because the ball didn't find its way into the penalty area too often. Two long-range shots from Jan-Philipp Kalla were the best chances. Now it remains to be feared that the FC St. Pauli players will not be able to repeat this energetic performance against KSC on Saturday.
So it remains to be seen that the half-time choreos on the Süd were the visual treats alongside the choreos already mentioned above. I also wish Christian Conteh a speedy recovery and an internal discussion with the medical department.
Oh yes: Eintracht fans – I actually thought you had the assholes under control. I don't know whether I can continue to enjoy your good mood at European Cup matches. Storming the blocks at the entrance to bring in all the pyrotechnics and always chanting "son of a bitch" when the opposing team's names were called didn't exactly speak for good manners even before kick-off.
Let's come to the pictures of the game, combined with the hope that we all don't have to wait so long until it's cup night at Millerntor again.

Oh, here, about the “block storm”… “we” were supposedly to blame for it. Were we? See:

Ah, thanks for the info. Last night it was actually a little tighter everywhere than usual - I have no idea why.
