Ethiopia – 880 species of birds and even more landscape

Landscape and birds

There's always something chirping somewhere. There are said to be 880 bird species in Ethiopia. Plus, you can always stand in the middle of nowhere, see a great landscape, and if you turn 180°, you'll see another great landscape.

I've been in gray Germany for a good half a week now, everyday life is trying to pull me into the here and now, but I just can't let go yet. The many impressions keep me in the heat and altitude of Ethiopia.

Until I have processed everything and can tell you more about the trip Viva con Agua If I can tell you something, I'll insert something that's rather unusual for me: pictures of birds and a few impressions of the landscape. That's actually not my profession and on the trip I took the photos in passing.

With these pictures I hope to be able to at least partially represent the beauty of the country. However, despite all the beauty of the landscape, you should not forget that Ethiopia has lost around 50% of its trees in the last 98 years.

And of course a huge thank you is due of my loved ones, without which I would never have found out which of the birds I was looking at.

What's next…

For the photo nerds among us: the photos were taken either with the Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2* or the Sigma 135mm Art f/1.8*. (*Amazon Affiliate Links – if you purchase through them on Amazon, I receive a small commission.)

The use of the rather short focal lengths for animal photography makes it clear how close the animals were. I also had my XPan with me. I took the films from the camera to the "My Film Lab“ I am of course excited to see what is on it. But it will still be a while before that happens.

Maybe by then I'll have returned to everyday life and processed the trip in Ethiopia. Then I can tell you more stories. But I just don't want to let go yet...
