When I saw the outline of the dark spot as I scrolled past on Christmas Day, I couldn't believe my luck. Pictures are a memory after all and can therefore have much more emotional significance for the creator of the photo than a viewer might realize. The two sentences seem confusing at first, but I'll explain them to you now.
The trigger
In the summer an assignment took me to Spitsbergen. Some pictures I've already shown you. Since I haven't gotten around to showing you any more pictures yet, I scrolled through my pictures from June 2018 again. I also felt like taking landscape photos again. I was looking for this photo (click to enlarge), which I took on board during dinner and which I still had in mind because of the wonderful lighting.
Luckily, I had a table on board the MS Hanseatic that allowed me to look over the stern in the direction of the route we were passing. At eight in the evening the sun briefly peeked into the Billefjorden before the journey was to end a few hours later.
The tattoo
Now this corner of Svalbard is also known for having puffins. Because of my assignment, I missed the chance to observe the animals breeding. I really like these birds and was quite disappointed to only see a group of three flying past once during the whole trip. I was emotional enough to bring a correspondingly designed stuffed toy from the airport in Longyearbyen. I definitely wanted to have a souvenir of this amazing trip and I thought the puffin that wasn't photographed was suitable. Even better, however, is the magnificent tattoo that I have Max Birkl on the arm. And now you know the reason for this motif.
I can't say often enough how beautiful this art by Max Birkl turned out. By the way, Max only ever does each tattoo once. A Look into his gallery it's worth it. The puffin tattoo makes me happy every day!
This actually completes the story and rounds it off.
The luck
As described above, after looking for and finding the picture, I happened to look through my pictures from that day again. And then I couldn't believe it. During this activity to adequately capture the light in Billefjorden, I actually photographed a puffin and completely deleted it from my memory. But now I recognized the contour immediately and could hardly believe my luck. Even the autofocus was correct.
It's not a perfect picture. But for me it is.
Wonderful – and I mean that with all my heart, my dear!
Thank you thank you!
Enviable, I would also like to see Spitsbergen and, above all, take photos. By the way, I also think puffins are great animals. Greetings Andrea
