Successful brown and white farewell to 2018

13:00 p.m. In the middle of St. Pauli - everything was set up for a successful farewell to the 2018 football year. Good atmosphere, great choreography and then the kick-off. The men from FC St. Pauli were probably already mentally lying under the tree and left the ball and the pitch to 1.FC Magdeburg for most of the time. Some rather confusing referee decisions (for the pun fans: "Mr. Schlager wasn't the hit!") did not bring calm to the game.

Two things ensured that after a good 90 minutes of play, everyone was drunk on mulled wine and falling on each other's necks. So in the 16th minute, coach Kauczinski left his coaching zone and gave free kick taker Marvin Knoll an enlightening message - almost exactly 30 seconds later song 2 was played!

The next lucky coincidence was that St. Pauli appeared in front of the opponent's goal with first-league efficiency. 6 shots on goal were enough to hear the same wonderful song 4 times. (And I don't mean "Last Christmas".)

Since it was so beautiful in the end, there are a few more pictures today than usual.

Of course I'm pleased with Bernd Nehrig's successful performance. But Dimi Diamantakos was also able to show great things.

Notes from the sidelines

The game was called a safety game and that always has unpleasant consequences. Probably no one can understand why the police had to set up in front of the Jolly. Just show your strength? Sorry, Hamburg police – no one can take you seriously at demonstrations etc. for a long time.

Probably none of the Magdeburg fans thought that they were behaving absolutely correctly. In any case, an attempted storm into the Nord's home area is completely unnecessary. Many thanks to the stewards who prevented something worse from happening. Hopefully you are all safe and sound under the Christmas tree!

But there were also unpleasant things on the brown and white side. Sexist remarks towards an assistant referee on the touchline in front of the main stadium are absolutely unnecessary. And it's even more tragic that none of those sitting around reprimanded the person concerned.

It is once again noticeable that violence – no matter what form it takes – very often comes from men. We should talk about that.

I wish everyone with health problems (regardless of whether they are players or fans) a speedy recovery and, in general, I wish everyone a wonderful time and some peace and quiet to recharge their batteries. Have a good start to 2019 and thank you for the overwhelming response to my pictures. <3

  1. Menno, why don't you let me know if something like this happens at the main one? I would like to remove such a bird myself...
