Two cars arrive slightly late. When a rather small man gets out of the front, two people who can be described as closet-like have already jumped out of the still slowly moving rear. The first man gives a short nod and the other two retreat. The first man comes quickly towards us, shakes our hands in a friendly manner and I briefly explain what I plan to do with my camera.
"We can do that," says the man. A small weight is lifted from my shoulders, because I was booked by DriveNow to photograph the first mayor of the city of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz, with their new electric cars in a quarter of an hour. Because of the delay, the first few minutes are over before I've even started. There's no time for brainstorming about how to implement the picture ideas. I put him in front of the car, give him friendly instructions, let him sit in the car and ask Olaf Scholz to straighten his jacket. In the background, a woman with an appointment calendar says that we have to finish soon.
I still need a picture with Olaf Scholz and the head of DriveNow in the car, so I quickly push the flash umbrella onto the bumper, adjust the light again and thank them politely. The meeting with the mayor had only lasted four minutes when Olaf Scholz said goodbye and turned to more important things.
A little later she leaves press release out…
For the interested photo nerds: all photos were taken with the Leica M and the Summilux 35mm. All shots are flashed.
