Before the game, I was surprised to meet the former captain of the team 1. Women and we talked briefly about whether I would even be able to see anything of the game while I was working. It depends on how turbulent a game is, I answered, which in turn led her to ask what I wanted for the evening. "The main thing is a home win, but preferably a boring one," I answered. And actually that's exactly what happened. VfL Bochum were only on the pitch for the first 10 minutes and the last quarter of an hour, otherwise FC St. Pauli played - or neither of them.
If the 1-0 score was a surprise, the opening goal at half-time was more than deserved. And then Bochum had the chance to equalize at the beginning of the second half and almost in return the score was 2-0. In the 75th, St. Pauli had the chance to make it 3-0 and almost immediately scored the goal. Well, not much happened on the pitch. Just a boring home win. Good thing: with almost the last line-up as a team, we got our second home win of the 2017/18 season, that could be a good omen for the second half of 2018. The league is really tight. It also gave me enough time to photograph the many good banners.
What the team should get out of the habit of is playing on the North in the second half. I'm not superstitious, but yesterday I briefly doubted whether my karma account was in balance. You probably don't remember the last home game before the winter break in the 2014/15 season, when I couldn't take photos of the 3-0 celebration after a gust of wind because I ended up in the construction pit to the north with my camera. You can read about it here – I can of course remember the story particularly well.
The esteemed Mrs. Kalla also remembered this, because she greeted me after the game with the words that I shouldn't always lie down while playing. And it happened like this: after the foul in the 89th on Jan-Philipp near the edge of the penalty area, a frustrated Bochum player knocked the ball off the pitch. Unfortunately, it was placed in such a way that it unexpectedly hit me in the head with full force from around 11 meters. I immediately fell to the ground and can actually only recapitulate what happened thanks to my photos and the television pictures. Luckily, the ball boy standing next to me had the presence of mind to catch my camera with the little 400: thank you very much at this point, the damage would have been unsightly. Thanks also to the two folders who helped me get back on track. The Bochum player came to me straight away, apologized and asked how I was doing.

After the game I met the very happy president of our club and asked him to tell the team that one home win in each half series was not OK this season. We both laughed and wished each other a happy holiday.
I wish the same to all my readers!

Of course I can still remember how you fell into the excavation pit. Hope everything continues to improve.
Thank you!
Oh, I hadn't noticed that in the game, I was more happy about the free kick and the time it saved... but you can see how you get hit on fcstpauli.tv. Hope you are well!
It's a shame that it's behind a paywall, but I also saw it yesterday in the summary on the special interest channel on program position 300 😉
Otherwise all good. Thanks for asking!
BORING? I had one heart attack after another starting at 2:1. And it felt like injury time was 20 minutes long… 🙂
No trust in our boys in brown and white?
I should have a picture of the excavation gang somewhere
Yep, great...
Stefan Groenveld free yourself from this unpleasant moment, I can delete this unpleasant memory at any time and you pay a small fee on my account, which number I gave you straight away
Everything in this stadium is under video surveillance?! There has to be a recording. I want this as a gif. 😀
Hello Stefan, did you happen to take a photo on Monday of a banner in the south that said: Terminate FPÖ! # Day X?
Yes, I will send it to you by email.
