The Kick Ass Cup brings international roller derby to Hamburg plus the important Bundesliga game between the Harbor Girls and the Stuttgart Valley Girls. There are bouts with 4 teams to see for two days - I was there for the first two bouts (aka games) and can only recommend tomorrow's final day in the Christianeum to everyone.
It started on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the bout between Hamburg and Stuttgart for Bundesliga points and a preliminary decision for the German championship. Unfortunately, the Harbor Girls lost two of their good jammers and only narrowly won against Stuttgart last time. It turned out to be the expected difficult and competitive bout, in which Stuttgart ultimately managed to stay ahead. The final result was 171:221, which was perhaps a few points too high, but was absolutely deserved.
The second bout of the day saw a Belgian-French duel. Brussels Derby Pixies jammed against Roller Derby Caen and this game was even more exciting and competitive than the German duel. The spectators got their money's worth. In a bout that was tactically very fine to watch, the lead was always narrow and changed at times. The type of roller derby was also significantly different: the agile players impressed with a very strenuous game in which both teams gave each other nothing. There were several jams where no points were awarded at all because of effective blocking. And then there was that one jam where Caen scored an insane 30 points. In any case, that was roller derby to make you click your tongue. In the end, however, Caen had to admit defeat - Brussels Derby Pixies won against Roller Derby Caen with 173:131.

After these two bouts we continued, but unfortunately I didn't have any more time. But I definitely wanted to provide you with pictures today so that you have the chance to watch the last two bouts of the Kick Ass Cup 2017 in the Christianeum tomorrow. It is worth it ..
