Stuck Stuck

Lost to the leader

First the positive: with the kind of team performance that FC St. Pauli showed, especially in the second half against Fortuna Düsseldorf, we won't be relegated this season. We fought well, but were a little unlucky in front of goal - we could have done better against the current leaders of the second division. But the opponents have "Fortuna" in their club name. So two sloppy defensive errors in the first half hour of the game were enough to lose the match. That is also the negative thing about this game: we learned nothing from the defeat against Ingolstadt. Coming onto the pitch with a hurrah might work against weaker opponents, but strong teams can take advantage of that.

Furthermore, I would be happy to see even fewer of these balls being hit forward frantically. The brown and white team became dangerous whenever the ball was carried forward in a playful manner.

So and then a word about Mr. Brych: from my position I can of course not judge offside decisions and not all situations either. In general, in my opinion, the referee made most of the decisions correctly. However, this is not always possible without errors in a fraction of a second. As an example, here are two pictures that show Waldemar Sobota in the action for which he saw the yellow box (it's best to click to enlarge):

In any case, it wasn't the referee's fault that FC St. Pauli lost 1-2 against Fortuna Düsseldorf today.

I hope that the injury list will be shortened again soon. And with a little more fortune on our side, we got the three points at the Millerntor again. The atmosphere was definitely first class today.

And don’t forget to go vote on Sunday! Unless you would vote for right-wing populist shit, then you are welcome to stay at home tomorrow. But then you wouldn’t be on this blog either…
