“Welcome to the Ghetto” is written in large, hand-painted letters in the walk-on corner. “Welcome to the Ghetto” blares from the homemade stadium sound system as the first women’s team from FC St. Pauli and the second women’s team from SV Werder Bremen enter the hand-painted green. That’s it for the “Welcome”. Bremen never makes it to the Ghetto and deservedly loses 1-2.
As much as the first women from FC St. Pauli dominated the game, they also had an excellent Tara Zimmermann in goal today. Everything that came onto her brown and white goal was fished away from her. Very strong performance. For me the best in the squad today. She only needed luck once when a ball from the green and white hit the crossbar.
The Bremen goalkeeper also had luck with the crossbar, even twice. To do this, she still had to reach behind herself three times. The FC St. Pauli women played surprisingly erratically and missed one or two chances to finish the game more consistently.
However, this could also be due to the somewhat inhospitable outdoor conditions that prevailed in the field arena today. The wind whistled mercilessly and when the sun went down, it got really cold. It rarely happens that I warm myself up in the stadium bar "Abseits" during half-time. And even the Leica froze at some point in the second half. It was a good thing that I had a second warm battery with me. It was ready for use again in time for the final celebrations.
With this recent success, the 1st women from FC St. Pauli are in second place in the table as the only undefeated team in the Regionalliga Nord, but they still have two catch-up games. (Thanks Jürgen for pointing out the error that was originally here!) This all looks very good and I'm excited to see how many viewers will be there next time. On November 2th It's against the league leaders from Limmer. I would put this in my calendar...
Pretty harsh lighting conditions.
