Yes, 1860 Munich and FC St. Pauli in the Bundesliga at the same time - that's what's happening in roller derby. On Saturday there was a bout between the two teams, which in this sport are called Harbor Girls and Munich Dynamite - but are departments of the two more or less well-known football clubs. For the Harbor Girls it was the first bout of the current roller derby season and of course I was excited to see how the team started the season. The opponent from Munich had only had their second encounter in the Bundesliga two weeks before and - surprisingly for me - had beaten the long-time champions from Berlin. My surprise subsided somewhat after I found out that the Berliners had withdrawn their first team from the Bundesliga in order to score points internationally. It is clear that Berlin is no longer as strong as it was all those years ago, but how strong are the league leaders from Munich now? Well, the question quickly became clear: not as strong as the Harbor Girls. After just a few minutes, the Northern Lights had a double-digit lead against their opponents from the south. (A little insider follows:) This time the bout of the A-Team was the more boring one. It always depends on the opponent. In the end it was 216 to 115! A clear matter…
And before that there was the bout of the so-called B team (I liked the earlier formulation "Sea Gals" better) against the guests from Twente in the Netherlands. It was an exciting and hard-fought bout for a long time, in which the Hamburg girls had a hard time finding a way through the opposing pack. With a little more power and luck, however, they could have done better. The Harbor Girls had to admit defeat against Twente 140 to 203. But considering that many of the Harbor Girls B team have only been there for a short time, that is a very good result. Some technical and tactical finesse still needs to be learned. That is not meant to be disrespectful in any way - I have the utmost respect for the performance of everyone who is on and in the track. You can come along and watch - on July 15.7th, for example. Then you will quickly notice that the sport is very tactically diverse. I myself probably needed three bouts before I even understood the rules... 😉
Oh yes, of course there are pictures of all of this too.
If you're wondering why the pictures from Saturday can only be seen today: due to the deadline for submitting my pictures for the Millerntor Gallery, I had to set other priorities in the last few days. There are a few more pictures to see today.
Oh yes, Millerntor Gallery: I am very happy that my pictures from the project "German!?" between June 29.6th and 2.7. can be seen at the end of the south. And I'll be even happier if you stop by...
Hi Stefan,
Isn't this a tough sport?
The pictures give an impression of dynamism and speed!

Thank you for your comment, which not only makes me happy, but also definitely makes the athletes happy.
