I've had a wonderful illustrated book here for quite a long time, which I always enjoy looking at. Since the Olympics are currently underway, I thought now is the right time to introduce this book to you. Tomasz Gudzowaty is a Polish photographer who in his book "Beyond The Body"* shows his collected sports photographs. But these are not the usual sports photos of major international events, but rather the small, special sports outside the perception of media sports reporting. Urban golfing in Indian slums, for example. Horse racing in Mongolia. Mexican drifters. Freejumpers in New York. He even gains breathtaking perspectives from better-known sports such as synchronized swimming.
As if the subject wasn't already exciting enough, he also takes analogue photographs. And as if that wasn't challenging enough, a large number of his photos were taken with a Linhof. So: large format!
When you're fed up with his shots, you either throw away your equipment or work even harder on your pictures. Anything that can give good inspiration. It's on his website a or else. seen from the book. But everything looks much better in the large print of the book. Honest.
Consequently, I have his book* Photographed analogue to give you a tiny impression.
Ordered – thanks for the tip!
Hi Stefan! Thanks for the great hint. Book already ordered. Do you have any other photographers who photograph sports “differently”?
Yes, just scroll back in the “Inspiration” 😉
The book is great! Bought it when I started analogue and have had it in my hands ever since! 🙂
