Although test matches have a purpose for the players, they are actually worthless for spectators. The packed stands in the arena show how much the brown and white football soul longs for the ball game in the Millerntor at home. Despite everything, it was nice for the spectators to be able to see the team for the new season - without alcohol and adrenaline fighting for dominance in the blood again. And there was a lot to see...
4-4-2, wing runs by Vegar Eggen Hedenstad, Aziz Bouhaddouz in the style of a bulldog with fine little feet, Fafa Picault as a racer between the fronts - everything is nice to see. There were minor coordination problems in defense, but nothing to worry about. Only Christopher Buchtmann seemed a bit unfortunate to me because he was supposed to be leading the game in the middle, but far too often it went out wide early on. But maybe it was just an impression of mine. After all, I'm not a coach and I don't know what was planned. Ewald Lienen would definitely have something to tell again gehabt.
After the game there was the obligatory autograph session (read: autograph sessions) and interview session with the new players in front of a large audience. But what was more important before the game was that FC Lampedusa as the incoming children was a wonderful signal that refugees have not been forgotten. This is a very important sign, especially after the martial behavior of the Hamburg police on Hafenstrasse in the last few weeks. But even more important is that the FC St. Pauli takes over the sponsorship of this special football club – FC Lampedusa St. Pauli sounds great and it is. Thank you, dear people in charge, for this symbol of exchange and understanding! “And I know why I am standing here…”
My personal highlight was that the scoreboard now has, among other things, a picture that... my wife made has. This is a result that I can only dream of: once I have pressed the shutter button and there are stickers, the AFM game calendar 14/15 and now also the picture on the scoreboard. Cheers!
So now we can get started with real football again...
What a nice idea, Lampedusa Football Club for the children of refugees. It gives me goosebumps of joy xxx Thank you, FC St Pauli and you Stefan for the consistently good reporting
