The brown and white sports weekend wouldn't be complete if the quick detour to the attractive roller derby on Saturday evening wasn't mentioned here. The B team of the Hamburg Harbor Girls rolled against the Riot Rollers from Darmstadt, severely weakened. The Hamburg team was able to start strong and go into the break with a narrow lead, but then the injury woes meant that not even two complete jam teams were available. Of course, that takes a toll on your fitness and so the Darmstadt team was able to first take the lead and then defend it. It speaks for the outstanding fighting spirit of the Harbor Girls that the bout was only lost with 139 to 149. A very close result.
From a photographic point of view, what was really interesting this time was that somehow the key to the hall light couldn't be found. The human eye could just about follow what was happening in the game, but it was a real endurance test for the cameras. It didn't help much that the audience turned on the flashlights on their cell phones at some point.
In order to be able to freeze the movement, I finally took photos at ISO18000. Yes, there is no zero too many. ISO18000 - I've never had it on the display of my Nikon and I only have a small crop camera for the long focal lengths.
For the group photo at the end I chose a long exposure time because my Leica - for the short focal lengths - cannot work at all in these ISO spheres. I managed to take 8 group photos three times, the light from the flash of my neighbor and valued colleague Karsten to be able to capture. A group photo can then also be presented.
Conclusion: on Saturday evening there were failures on all sides, but there was once again a wonderful atmosphere at the bout Harbor Girls. Maybe you'll stop by next time too.
18.000 😮
Cool pictures! On November 05.11th your Harbor Girls will play against our Stuttgart Valley Rollergirls... unfortunately I can't be there.
David Temesegen! Cool picture of you again 😀
Thanks Sophie 🙂 Stefan can do it. Although, I do look a bit grim...or just highly concentrated?
Oh, it doesn't hurt to look grim first! Then you can still be nice 😉
Great atmospheric pictures - once again. Remarkable "small" camera -D500?- can definitely convince.
Thanks Stefan Groenveld. Feel roughly handshaked.
Oh no, the pictures turned out really great. Actually, as always 😉
Thank you!
