Roller derby in the railway magazine

The print to web conversion rate is generally known to be poor. This month things seem to be different. In any case, I have never received so many letters and comments via Twitter and over Facebook because people noticed my photos in the current mobil, Deutsche Bahn's magazine.

Yes, if you take the train this month you can shorten the waiting time on the late train with a 6-page special on roller derby. At least 7 pictures made their way into the magazine. Here's a little impression...

With this publication, I'm not only happy that a niche sport worth watching is being presented to a wider audience - even if the title is a bit "meh". Of course, it's a sport for girls, and it's played by girls. But it seems that the industry can't get by without a little bit of sexism.

I'm also happy that I was able to include photos I took with the Leica M. After all, I'm almost exclusively with them Leica I took part in the sport - only once was my Leica M in Wetzlar to readjust the rangefinder and I took photos with the heavy Nikon.

Leica is often said to be able to deliver impressive results when moving quickly in dark halls. Finally, the speed of the image releases can be described as slow and the lenses do not have autofocus. My output of out-of-focus images isn't much larger than with the Nikon's autofocus. Just last Monday I had it again in one Blog post shown.

I don't want to persuade anyone to buy a Leica M. But I'm happy that I can take part in this sport with little weight and a small bag.

By the way, the approximately Din A3-sized image on the double page of the Deutsche Bahn magazine was photographed at ISO2500. I'll show it to you again here so you can take a closer look.

  1. Congratulations on the article and the beautiful photos!
You don't have to take the train to read the mobile. It is available at the train ticket counters at every train station.
