Flare comparison

I tend to be too complete sometimes meaningless Compare.

And since I took photos with beautiful lens flare in quick succession, I wanted to briefly share them with you. Above: Event photography at the last Webmontag Hamburg (All pictures of the event can be found here) with the Noctilux. Below: Street photography with the iPhone 6.

I think the camera on the iPhone 6 does really well.

Lens flare actually refers to errors in lenses. Wikipedia describes "visible reflections and scattering of backlight in a lens system". But if these errors look as nice as in the two examples shown here, I can live with them. Especially since in both cases the photo was taken directly into a strong light source. You should avoid that anyway if you don't want the contrast in your images to approach 0 in places.

But this mistake irritates me and I like to take photos directly into appropriate light sources. If pictures like this come out of it, I'll be happy. Beautiful mistakes are beautiful.

  1. I also really like this error and will try it with the iPhone 5s when I get the chance (I don't take many photos with it). I've already lost my teeth on the 50 Sigma Art one time or another :-).

  2. Hello Stefan!
Yes, I'm also a fan of physical flares instead of post.
I have a few old lenses at home just for this :)
It's also nice to see professionals who appreciate this effect and don't see it as a permanent enemy!
All the best from HH to HH!
