When the last rays of sun shine through the clouds early in the morning

11 a.m. isn't really early, but on Boxing Day it kind of is. But when I saw the sun shining through the kitchen window on my freshly scented coffee this morning, I wanted to leave this homeliness behind me as quickly as possible. Finally I have a new baby and in sunlight I haven't yet been able to convince myself that the combination of the shortest exposure time of 1/4000s, minimum ISO of 200 (well, good: Pull 100 is also available) and an open aperture of 0,95 is complete nonsense - unless , You like overexposed images.

Since I couldn't find any fellow guinea pigs for my lens so early in the morning, I cycled alone to the murky waters of the Elbe and took a photo of myself. I have to go too.

From the very first click, I immediately fell in love with the image on the camera display, which I still haven't removed from its protective film. But the love wasn't aimed at my face - narcissism is not one of my strengths. No, it was the colors on the display that made my heart beat faster. Leica calls the built-in color mode for JPGs straight from the camera "strong color film". In this case, it was just right for me. That's the image look that has had me eyeing the Leica for some time.

I also find the dynamic range worthy of all respect. The intense vignetting of the lens when the aperture is open is more of an advantage for this subject. Of course I was lucky to find a nice window pane. You won't be able to get a flower pot with the Noctilux in direct sunlight without an ND filter. I was also lucky that I hurried in the morning: shortly after the photo was taken, a thick band of clouds obscured Hamburg for the rest of the day.

Reminder: if you want to see the image a little larger, click on "Hide text" in the bottom right. Here are the photographic data: 50mm, ISO 200, 1/2000s, f/0,95, Auto-WB, JPG out-of-cam!
