The international garden show in Hamburg Wilhelmsburg begins tomorrow. I have already brought a few pictures of what is perhaps the most beautiful construction site in Hamburg at the moment. All photos were taken with the Fuji X100s.
Conveniently located right next to the Wilhelmsburg S-Bahn station, I think the garden show is an interesting project. Especially in an area that has not been particularly characterized by urban development. Since 2007, however, many ecological ideas have been implemented in Wilhelmsburg and Veddel as part of the International Building Exhibition. The IGS2013 is now, so to speak, the climax and conclusion of the current development of Hamburg's large island in the Elbe.
At the same time, the displacement of the old population is being fueled in the district. Over 50% of the residents of Wilhelmsburg have a migration background. I am particularly happy for them to have the newly created leisure opportunities, and thanks to the neighborhood card, the residents of the Elbe islands (Wilhelmsburg, Veddel, Kleiner Grasbrook, Steinwerder) have three free entries to the International Garden Show. After the Garden Show, the art of urban development will lie in bringing together the old and new populations in a harmonious coexistence.
In my opinion, the International Garden Show is not particularly inexpensive: 21 euros for adults. A family with two adults and two children (aged 6 and over) has to shell out 54 euros. If you want to climb for an hour in the brand new high ropes course, you'll have to pay another 13 euros, or 10 euros for children. My tip: buy an after-work ticket - it costs 9 euros and is valid from 18 p.m. until dusk, when the garden show closes. With the after-work ticket, you just have to remember that the ticket offices close at 20 p.m., and from September even at 19 p.m.
I am excited to see how the 2013 International Garden Show will be received.
… the Thupen in front of the gates are cool 😉
But why is everything so pale? Colors ruined on the little one? 😉
This is due to the uncalibrated MacBook monitor 😉
I actually wanted to go there on Sunday, but given the prices I'll probably think of an alternative program 🙁
Will then perhaps only the IBA
