Wedding on the Altona balcony

The registry office in the Altona town hall is one of the nicest for weddings in Hamburg. The historic rooms have a special charm. Round arches in the waiting area and heavy wooden furniture in the wedding room with harmonious colors on the walls and a view of the green courtyard create a celebratory atmosphere that is almost reminiscent of church weddings. Unfortunately, not all registrars manage to fill this given festive atmosphere with life. Recently on a Thursday, the wonderful couple was lucky with a friendly registrar.

The wonderful couple was also lucky with the weather. That was at a time when it was supposed to rain for days in Hamburg, but it wasn't until after the wedding and the couple's photoshoot that it actually started to drizzle from above. Well, maybe that's why we rushed a bit to take pictures of the couple. It already looked very gray in the sky.

I was lucky not only with the warm couple, but also with the Altona balcony, which is located directly opposite the Altona town hall. I actually had a picture in my head of the newlywed couple with a view over the Hamburg harbor, but I didn't know that the meadow there was newly blooming. This is how this lovely photo was taken, in which I forgot about my lawn allergy and had to hold my head very close to the ground to focus manually on the one lens to have the slightest chance of getting a sharp image. To be honest, I saw almost nothing. And yes: a folding display would have been really helpful at this point.

Enjoy the great couple with me!

  1. Yes, the town hall is beautiful – inside and out. I was lucky enough to get married there in 1999, but I have forgotten the name of the registrar. All I remember is that she based her speech on The Little Prince, but couldn't pronounce Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. My combat intellectual maid of honor almost bit into the trust-inspiring table 😉

It doesn't matter, what was said was warm and sweet and of course you wish that for every couple. Also M. (or should I write F.?) and his Holden!
