Very close

On Sunday I went to ice hockey with the Freezers again - in keeping with the current ones winter conditions in Hamburg. It was the last game of the main round against the EHC from Munich. For the Munich team it was about getting into the pre-playoffs and the Hamburg Freezers still had the chance of a better place in the table and thus home rights for the first playoff game.

BTW: it just occurred to me that historically Munich played against Munich, because the Freezers were originally the Munich Barons - a little over 10 years ago...

At the nuclear Duplicity of weekend events, this game was also rather of agonizing boredom shaped - until suddenly the last minutes began. It wasn't until the very end that word got around on the ice that Hamburg only had to win by two goals to secure home advantage. Before the game, no one had expected a very clear 4-goal defeat for the better-placed Berliners. Suddenly the Hamburg Freezers turned up the heat and took over the game.

Ultimately it wasn't enough to swap places in the table with Berlin. Although EHC Munich's goal was empty at the end, the Freezers couldn't make it the decisive goal. It remained 2-1 after goals in the 53rd and 57th minutes. The first play-off game will then take place in Berlin.
