Demos at Millerntor

Of course, the draw between FC St. Pauli and Sandhausen was still there the next day U23 game a topic. My favorite sports philosopher Eva Kalla summed it up perfectly: "If you get a point in Fürth and win against Sandhausen, you also have 4 points and everyone is happy." I had already feared before the game that it would be difficult against the deep-lying Sandhausen team. So I am happy that the team did not let themselves be countered - like against Paderborn. Sandhausen came dangerously close to the goal in the 90th minute. FC St. Pauli had more chances, but just as little luck. So I cannot understand the shameless ranting of the pensioners in the main stand.

Ultimately, none of that matters. What matters right now are other topics. Wieder einmal The colorful Millerntor was able to show that homophobia and sexism have no place in football. Of course, this doesn't just apply to football, but to all areas of life.

What also made me extremely happy was the incredibly broad support for the call to the current Hamburg Senate not to hide behind laws and use court decisions as an excuse, but to act as politicians from a humane perspective. Given the twisted opinion-forming of Hamburg newspapers, which mostly do not remember their journalistic mission but prefer to copy police reports and ask the people in charge, Scholz and Neumann, I would not have expected such a broad "Refugees welcome" response. If I interpret the mood in Millerntor correctly, I would not be surprised if the Hamburg SPD slips below 5% in the next state election...

I'm curious to see whether the search for a solution for the people who, among other things, fled German weapons will last until the next home game. Then it's home game again - at prime time on live television. It could be that, for once, it's an advantage to play on a stupid Monday evening...

  1. Thank you. Once again a very atmospheric documentary. Great promotions, by the way, here at Millerntor. Wish it was like that everywhere (politically).
