My decision for the fotografr photo competition

My esteemed colleague Michael has announced a photo competition on his blog fotografr. Topic number 1 of the three-part competition was “My photographic highlight of 2012"150 participants sent in their most important picture of the year - and I am thankfully allowed to sit on the jury and now select three of these pictures. Fortunately, I am not alone on the jury and the burden of the decision is shared Torsten Mühlbacher, Robert Kneske, Hendrik Roggemann, Ralf Nöhmer, Manuel Mauer, Sven Wickenkamp, Manfred Huszar, Stefan Neuweger and Henning Wust with me. I'm curious to see which picture combines the most points at the end. Of course, with 150 entries, it could be that all of the pictures are winners - after all, photography has a lot to do with personal taste and all jury members have their own photographic preferences.

I can now introduce you to my three favorites and the order of presentation is not a ranking. And please: I have no idea either, I just have preferences.

That's why I'll start with an honorable mention: Ine's photo with a nice story and very good technology - personally, the ring light draws too much attention to me. A matter of taste, but "whining" at a high level!

But now – tadaa – my selected favorites: Jürgen's stony wavesThe old rule says: "a picture is good if you look at it for more than a second." I do that, because I always see new perspectives in the waves. Patrick's stone – an unspectacular motif, but I am fascinated by how a single stone can create so much dynamism and draw me into the picture. Daniel's Desert Wind – I have no idea how he came up with the title. Another image that works for me on different levels.
