There are lenses that you dream about for half your life. Well, at least I do. And I saved up for this particular lens for about the same amount of time. I've been holding it in my hands since today and am looking forward to its first sporting use.
At the moment I can only show you a snapshot, because when I pushed the lens over the counter, my photo buddy happened to be standing there Christian next to me. It had to be used straight away – thank you for that.
And now: say hello to my new portrait lens with built-in megabokeh 🙂
Bokehlicious!
Nice! You can sell the suitcase on eBay and get a Glass Taxi from Thinktank instead. Top combo and there’s even money left over 😉
Thanks for the tip.
I'll be happy to try it out when I'm in Africa next time. Seems to have the same outstanding quality as the 300 plus a bit more focal length. It's just not for people with thin arms, they already complain about my 300 😉
LG, Gunther
They were already complaining about my 200, but it's just a question of holding technique.
Nice suitcase 😉
want to have?
I don't even have the equipment for it yet 😉 But thanks for the offer.
Micha
That's what dreams are for. If only you weren't so impatient, waiting would probably be fun. 🙂
Have fun with the new shard, four kilos is quite official... 😉
four point eight – I paid for every gram… 😉
Oh, oops. I'm happy to say this preponderance to you... 😉
a technical question, even at the risk of missing it again. 🙂
So far you have been taking your sports pictures with the 200 plus teleconverter. This means that you now gain an aperture or lose one, but thereby gain twice the focal length.
From now on, will you operate with a second (third, fourth) body on the sidelines, or will you no longer be able to handle the weight? :-p
So far I have taken photos with 200mm and 1,7 converter - i.e. 340mm and aperture 3.3, which I stopped down to 4 for sharpness and focus range. With the 2 converter I would have 400mm and aperture 4, but the sharpness and AF speed aren't really great. (The 2 converter is actually really good, but it reaches its limits when it comes to sports.)
Now I have a real 400mm with the option of 800mm. The sharpness is of course different too. Maybe at some point I'll post a 100% crop at wide open aperture...
Question answered?
Thank you, your honor, no further questions. 🙂
As always, detailed and understandable for someone from Bremen. 😉
I'm happy 🙂
Well then – congratulations. The lens is definitely great! No problem with 2,8! And with the monopod, the weight is not an obstacle either. Unfortunately I only have the pleasure occasionally (on loan). But Christmas is coming soon! Have fun with it.
Thanks. Ever since I borrowed the lens, I've really wanted it. 😉
I have known the “want-to-have” effect ever since I was able to take photos with a colleague’s Canon Pandant.
Congratulations on the great lens!
In order to top that at our next gadget photo meeting, I would probably have to order the Canon EF 600mm f/4.0 L IS II... That's getting too expensive for me with you 😉
...but drive a Porsche... 😉
You don't care about cars, so it doesn't count 😉
