Photographing football can sometimes be quite difficult

Photographing football is sometimes quite difficult, even if you are sitting right on the sidelines. Saturday at Friendly match between Denmark and Brazil was another day when everything actually went wrong.

The playing field is large and there are a hundred possibilities sitting incorrectly. And the Imtech Arena still has one when the sun is shining special highlight: the sun only shines on about a quarter of the lawn. Doesn't sound bad, but it looks stupid in photos on three quarters of the field. The contrast range is so huge that the background simply burns out when the foreground is in shadow.

In case you're wondering why sports photographers are always like this large tele bags have? The celebrities always sit so far away that even one 600mm lens is not an adequate portrait lens. Apart from that, even the longest telephoto bag is of no use if the scorer turns his back to you while celebrating. Sprinting halfway around the field is not an alternative at this moment - even if it's good to get to the end "sports photography" would fit…

Ultimately, it was still a great football experience International match to take photos, even if there wasn't nearly as much going on as at a game with German participation. The Brazilians barenstark, quickly silenced the stadium, which was occupied by euphoric Danes for three quarters - at least in the first 5 minutes of the game - with a flawless hat trick by the incredible Hulk. It's a good thing that Brazil isn't allowed to take part in the European Championships.

This is always particularly great at international football matches Organization: everything planned down to the last detail. This time I needed a voucher to access the WiFi that was specifically designed for photographers. I just don't know why a website is necessary to enter the voucher code - especially when it's complicated and the website doesn't have an option to remember what you've entered. In addition, it's just frustrating when the WiFi breaks down just in time for the game to start. It's good that I still have access to the Telekom hotspot 😉

  1. I like the caption for your department store link. The price is really awesome.

Should I make you rich and make me legendary if I click the link and buy this thing? 😉

      1. Phew.
I was hoping you would turn down the deal, otherwise I would have had to sell my soul... 😉

  2. Just a joke for those in the know or people who know you better: football photography is much easier if you don’t tweet at the same time… 😉
Of course, that doesn’t change the lighting conditions!

  3. Hi Stefan,
That's true though. Photographing footballers in action can sometimes be quite difficult. I too am a fatal soccer fan of the Italian national team. I like to go to games or training sessions, usually with my Canon - you can completely forget about iPhone photography at such events - and try to photograph the players at the optimal moment. Unfortunately, it wasn't very successful.
    Greetings, Giovanni
