trees and water

I had one on Sunday Private audience in the style pirates. Steffen and I finally found time to chat together again. We're so busy. Well – him more than me.

I still know Steffen as a graphic designer with a D90 – an attentive one book reader may have seen my snapshot of him. That may sound pandering, but that's not what it's meant to be. I'm really happy to have seen Steffen's journey through photography from the beginning. His Determination I can only admire the ability to assert myself on the market as a photographer with great respect.

And so we sat at the kitchen table, drank Indian tea and talked about Workflows. And then we walked through the heathland in the cold, wet weather, took photos of nature with mini equipment and talked about blogs, photos and comments.

It's always nice for me to experience how people can have different opinions and still be on the same wavelength. How you approach things differently and yet always notice intersections where you do and think the same thing. A very refreshing day in the Nordheide. Thank you, Steffen.

Photographically, I brought you pictures with the D7000 equipped with the 24mm f/1.4 - all more or less long exposures, handheld. If so spending time outdoors - I don't usually take pictures - then at least with a combination that probably not everyone immediately resorts to when nature photos are in vogue. Is this art? Maybe. Why am I showing the pictures? As is often the case in my blog: because I like them and I hope that there are one or two people "out there" who also like the pictures.

  1. Yes, the pictures absolutely say it!!
I imagine a day like this with the style pirate would be very interesting 🙂
    Greetings from the south...
    Marc

  2. Man Stefan,

I don't understand why you keep justifying yourself by showing photos on your blog that you have taken and that you like. A little more ass in your pants please 😉

A blog also has to have something personal about it, otherwise you could have it written by a PR agency who would consider beforehand whether the topic appeals to exactly the target group...

That's exactly why you read blogs. Joe McNally's wouldn't be as successful if you didn't have the feeling of being deeply involved in his thoughts and him as a person 😀

  3. I like the one. Because of the extended recording time, it has something gentle and calming about it.
Unfortunately, the two is upside down, and the three, oh, you can see that it's completely out of focus... 🙂

  4. I am thrilled with the photos!
And - if there isn't one zero too many in the camera name - glad that in the stupid VF/Crop discussion a professional has the courage to say: look, you can do that with a camera and it doesn't really matter what it is for one is. The main thing is to eat on the spot, i.e. the quality is right, right?

What did the style pirate use? Plate camera or iPhone?
    😉

      1. Exactly, I'm happy with my D7000 too and photos like this always inspire me to do it again.
What do you refer to as “long exposure” in this case? Did you work with a gray filter or just exposed until it was no longer possible to prevent “shake”?

  5. They are indeed great. A little different nature photos. Pictures 2 and 3 especially stand out, they are exciting, refreshing and not commonplace.

  6. Two experienced photographers stroll through nature chatting - who wouldn't have liked to be mice 😉

I always find the pictures of the style pirate impressive, or rather more and more impressive, and he can also write so well and comes across as totally grounded. And so of course I also have his book and, by the way, I wasn't an attentive reader 😉

I really like your pictures. I like experiments like this.
