WOW – Part 8

Today I introduce you to Dane Sanders. Maybe not a great photographer, but a very important source of inspiration for me. Mainly for two reasons.

Every Tuesday Dane has a video conference call with another photographer, usually about photography business topics. Of course it's tailored to the American market, but enough things from everyday photographer life are also valid for Germany - or will be valid at some point. The great thing is that all interviews are still available now.

The reason Dane Sanders came to my attention is because of him Book “Fast Track Photographer”. Dane advises photographers on their way to becoming a successful photographer. And he does that in the book too. He explains the different areas and opportunities to gain a foothold in the photography business. The centerpiece is a psychological test that is filled out online and uses several dozen questions to try to find out what kind of person and photographer you are. In combination with the book, you will receive personal feedback and a guide for your future progress as a photographer.

So - and now I know, of course, that some people turn up their noses at the word psychological test. I can understand that. Up until then, I only knew the "How in love are you really..." from Bravo. Nevertheless, I took the test seriously and was completely surprised afterwards at how well it highlighted my strengths and weaknesses. And not only that: the test evaluation gives tips on how to use the strengths and avoid the weaknesses.

A small insert: shortly after reading the book, I had the pleasure of being able to create a portrait of a human resources officer with a focus on psychology. She specializes in creating such tests and the conversation with her about it was very enlightening.

Conclusion: no mumbo jumbo, but science. And of course, the result is subject to scientific fluctuations 🙂

Big drawback – the book and test are only available in English. Apparently no one in Germany has approached the subject of photography and business in this way - or I simply haven't discovered it yet.

Enough written – here is the introduction to the world of Dane Sanders.
