A wedding in Hamburg's venerable Michel is something special in itself. It's great if it's a German-Dutch wedding and I probably got the job as photographer simply because I could immediately pronounce the groom's name correctly without having to fake tonsillitis...
And then on Ulla and Gijs' special day everything was really great: a priest who gave me a lot of freedom in his church, a wedding party with whom I could also talk about football despite these nationalities, a bride and groom who just... was happy and the weather was so typically Hamburg that it was pouring rain right when the couple shoot was planned - and even that was great, but see for yourself.
That day I was able to have some very interesting conversations with different guests. I learned a lot that day – about myself and my passion: photography. That's why I'm happy to be able to show some pictures of the day here in my blog, because they mean something to me - and also keep my memories of this day alive and not just those of the bride and groom.
Out of soccer: Great wedding photos from @rim_light from the Michel and the Old Elbe Tunnel: http://t.co/EnEbw7RM #Hamburg
Strong last paragraph.
I think you can see from the whole series that you were "burning" that day. The pictures have a special intensity that shows me that you wanted to do each one exactly the same way.
This doesn’t seem to be “thrown together”, but rather beautifully staged.
That's big …
Thanks! I'm glad that my feeling when taking photos resonates with you too 🙂
I also think the pictures are pretty brilliant, especially the wide-angle shots of the church are really well done, the perspectives (picture 7) look really impressive in some cases, but a lot of the pictures seem a bit grainy to me, did you make full use of your Lightroom workshop!? 😉
Thanks for your comment.
I've had the "artificial grain" thing in my pipeline for a while, but here I thought it would go well with the pictures.
I think photo 15 is cool. The dark border and the two “STOP” signs give the scene a mysterious/forbidden atmosphere.
Very cool pictures, picture 7 is very bizarre! But very nice couple who also allow the publication! Every shot is a hit!
What do you find bizarre about picture 7? The singers sang one of the bride and groom's favorite arias.
Once again a very nice series Stefan!
You packed in many facets of the wedding day...my absolute FAV is #16, 2.0/200! 😉
Greetings Frank
I like your look (as always). #10 is my favorite – very original!
