Man, I watermarked the images in the last few posts and haven't told you anything about my new logo and the reasons behind it. Did you even notice that? Do you even look at my pictures that closely? 😉
But from the beginning: I finally found a logo for myself. My sweetheart came up with the rough draft and the wonderful one DJ DSL implemented, developed and fine-tuned it in a magnificent way. I've wanted to have a logo for a long time and several other attempts to produce one have failed. I hope I didn't step too much on the toes of the other nice people who tried to create a logo for me.
My logo should cover multiple use cases. On the one hand, of course, as a logo with recognition value and on the other hand as a watermark for my images. So in the future my pictures will show this logo.
Actually, I'm not a fan of watermarks at all. Because they can ruin the image structure and it doesn't help at all as protection against theft. I already found out about this elsewhere. And between you and me: of course I know that as soon as something appears on the Internet, it is very easy to "use" it for your own purposes. I'm pretty relaxed about it. But I noticed two things recently that really upset me.
Once someone put one of my pictures on their Facebook fan page and simply deleted my friendly suggestion to at least write my name on the picture. The person in question then no longer responded to further information. Consequently I have Facebook reported the copyright infringement and within an hour and a half the picture was deleted. Good response time, in my opinion.
The other case is even bolder. One of my pictures of Sankt Pauli games - beautifully drawn on canvas - was given to two locations with an affinity for Sankt Pauli for their opening. Then I can't think of anything else...
That's why I changed my mind. I don't want to impose a collective punishment here (a little insider among St. Pauli fans), but if someone steals my picture, then I would at least like to have the chance that it will be noticed - and that someone will point out to the "thief" that it is actually my picture. That would be a dream!
The ability to use my logo as a watermark is just a nice byproduct. Recognition value is much more important to me. Of course, this also means that you like it. Hence the question: do you like my logo?
Very supple. I like it, do you leave it with the logo or do you add the complete name or your URL?
There is another great version with my name. It will come when I do a blog redesign :)
Great canvas.
This K… with copyright. Imagine a watermark on the Mona Lisa... such a Virtuvian human being - just flip over it... doesn't work.
As a photographer today you have to be extremely generous. The thing with the screen... if the poor fans had at least asked for a large file and put the whole thing behind acrylic glass - that would be great. And you would definitely have provided the picture (including the requirement for a signature on or next to the picture) ... it's certainly a pixxy thing ...
But always this stupid stealing. And then you have to watermark (actually distort) your image (the logo is very well done, by the way) in order to be able to place your signature in some way. How unpretentious!
item. I welcome any request for better data on an image seen on the web. Again and again, rarely, but again and again, these same people come back and now and then give them a job. Just for a sandwich. For the holidays. In any case because of or just for the quality.
So long,
Yves
@The illustrator, I'm glad you like the logo, Yves. By the way, I'm with you 🙂
I've already noticed the logo and I think it's cool!
I find it very successful.
simple and elegant!
... of course I noticed your logo, ... well, I'm a graphic designer by training, so you pay attention to things like that.
I like the logo. It is simply related to your work, you can easily enlarge and reduce it (if necessary up to the size of a signet ring) without losing its effect. In short, a logo that lives up to its reputation.
I can only agree with Jo, she really knows how to please, very nice!
I just make my web address small in a corner, and since then the image theft has decreased *hugely* for me.
Before, people weren't even aware that this might be undesirable - now only people who know they're doing something illegal steal.
I'm glad that my logo was well received by you!
Really nice logo. I like minimal and simple anyway, so it's really well done.
Second praise: attitude towards dealing with your pictures. Some give warnings, others ask to be named. The first doesn't have to be the case, the last is definitely the case (right, Karl-Theodor?).
An increasingly rounded picture that your appearance here creates.
I told you weeks ago that I (!) think it's absolutely great……….
I really like the logo!
I don't think it's too intrusive as a watermark.
I'm absolutely not a professional and can only judge your new logo as a layman, but I think it's very good! The recognition value should be very high and it incorporates your profession in the letters and thus the logo in a great way.
In short: congratulations on the great idea and the equally good implementation!
Haven't you had the logo on Facebook since time immemorial?
Well, 22. February I wouldn't call it prehistoric times 😉
That's when I just introduced it, but I've only now started using it as a watermark here on my blog. That is – I think – another difference.
Overall: yes. Based on the shape of the square = formal/geometric, I like it. Dissolved using curves, it makes things dynamic. Then in b/w (I like it too – but: can you interpret that programmatically?).
At most, the black lines would be a bit too heavy for me, but that's purely a matter of taste.
But the idea itself is great!
