Tea dance and other pictures

Before HSV kicks the ball again in the Europa League this evening, here are a few quick pictures from the last Bundesliga game against Hertha BSC.

I have my technique with the back goal camera refined it and not only treated myself to a fisheye, but also a Gorillapod 🙂 I then made this into the upper gate frame to get a different perspective. Of course that's not allowed, but obviously no one saw the camera. Lucky you! At least I was able to take two pictures that I wouldn't have had otherwise. On the one hand the goal to make it 1-0 and on the other hand a great save by Frank Rost shortly before the end of the game. But it's an insane amount of effort for two images - after all, I looked through 6GB of RAW data to find the two images.

Otherwise it was a pretty unspectacular game.

  1. You fox! What I think is particularly great about your picture of the back gate is the story it tells. Modern sports photography usually misses this because the technological upgrade means that the focus is literally increasingly on the players rather than on the game. As a result, I think a lot of what characterized great sports photography just a few decades ago has been lost.
