100 years of FC St.Pauli – the book – the reading

The anniversary book on the 100-year history of FC St.Pauli received many positive reviews. I am very happy that one of my pictures made it into the book. However, I haven't had time to take a closer look at the book until today. A reading came at just the right time for me. And one thing I can say after this beautiful evening: the book really belongs in every closet of anyone who has brown and white in their hearts. Very entertaining, very entertaining and very well sums up the many facets surrounding the club and the district.

The speakers further underlined the character of the book. It's just great when quotes from the book are read out by the person being quoted - for example by Florian Lechner and Timo Schultz. Or when actors completed the briefly summarized lines of the book with their own anecdotes and memories - for example Corny Littmann and Hendrik Lüttmer. It is always uplifting to listen to Günther Peine: 80 years in the club and 90 years old, he recited a self-written poem as an encore.

So we learned about the mascot “Pony Paulchen”, about Annegret Paulick’s butter cake, the players’ special tricks when handing out the prize money, Ole von Beust’s first calls of “St. Pauli, St. Pauli” – and that promotions are always celebrated in the same Hotel Sofia on Mallorca…

Well, how do you photograph a reading where a person is sitting on a sofa and looking down at a piece of paper? I chose calm images with a 50mm lens.

By the way, there is now also a special website for the club's 100th anniversary: it's worth a look! You can also buy the book there, which is now available in a limited special edition.

Addendum: Some of my pictures are on the Website of the book publisher Hoffmann & Campe been published.
