Emotions convey the central message and the reader can see from the picture who came out victorious. I think that's the main reason.
Unfortunately it's a little boring and monotonous. I think your header photo is fantastic. Unfortunately, this is in the wrong format for many newspapers. It's a shame, a real shame, some publishers should simply have more courage here.
And if Cologne had still scored 2-2, your picture 10 would probably be ideal.

Well - I had exactly the opposite at Kickers Emden's third division game (yes - *sob*): my colleagues were all sitting on the sidelines and I was the only one sitting next to the goal. And at 1-0 they rolled on the floor in front of me. The goalscorer also ran towards me while celebrating and looked into the camera…
That was great.
Otherwise you have really great pictures on your site.
I also prefer pictures with more action than celebration pictures No. 6 is my favorite.
