At some point it had to happen like this: I was actually allowed to take photos at HSV for the first time. And then also in the European League. Craziness!
Luckily it was The colleague so nice and showed me the way, otherwise I would never have made it to the interior. Finding the unmarked door through the basement of the arena to the interior is really not easy. And I learned something again: in the European League you are only allowed to sit on the goal lines to take photos. But HSV can't do anything about it.
To be fair, I have to say that working was very pleasant. The team line-up is brought to you, the space behind the boards is straight, the boards themselves are better because they stand upright and take up less space, and if you have to stand, you won't be attacked by the spectators in the front row , because then they won't see anything. And when a goal is scored, the beer cups are not thrown so far that the laptop smells strange. Already experienced everything!
And I learned something else: no matter where you sit, when your colleague from dpa comes, just go somewhere else. OK, I see it as a sport, because many of the pictures that were in the newspaper the next day could also have been mine, but it is of course clear that the dpa pictures will then be taken because the newspapers do not have to pay for them separately. So I now know the face of my dpa colleague too 😉
So here are a few pictures from the European League qualifying game HSV against EA Guingamp

really great pictures!
well, did the second time hurt too? 🙂 Thanks for the mention, good photos, maybe a bit high contrast? I think everyone had the last photo -_- but unfortunately I cropped it at the bottom with the 2

beautiful pictures sir. ;o) just box the dpa man away. *G*
Hi Stefan,
I came to your site through your email regarding Eibner copyrights. Really good site with great images, although the images (HSV) on my screen look like they have too much contrast. Continue to have good light and maybe we'll see each other sometime.
Many greetings from sunny Bavaria
Peter
Thank you for your numerous feedback! I'll pay attention to my contrast soon :)
Good day
I came to your site through an interview. I have to say very nice pictures. Now I wanted to ask (I'm still relatively new to the photography business, having been there for a good 3/4 years) which lens you mainly used for these pictures. In the interview you said that a 200 f/2 is primarily used for football. But here it looks more like a 400 to me. Am I wrong, or is it not urgently necessary to purchase an 8000 euro lens to get such images (of course I can only do this in the penalty area with my 70-200/2.8)?
If you want, you can also write me an email. In any case, thank you very much for an answer.
Samuel
Hi Samuel,
it's actually the case that I "only" use a 200mm, but you still have a good feeling for focal length, because I often use my 200mm for football with the 1,7 converter. That way I have a 340mm f/3,3 🙂
Thank you for your words of praise and always good light!
Regards
Stefan
